Baby buds on our key lime tree. (I just mulched it and on the recommendation of mom, threw in some seaweed. Must love it!)

4 o'clocks in the garden beds are about to bloom...so each day around 4p.m. I'm peering out the kitchen to see what happens.

4 o’clocks in the garden bed about to bloom. (So each day around 4p.m. I’m peering out the kitchen window to see if they’ve opened.)

I thought it was a little silly when my mom told me she was mulching and doing her fertilizing and using SEAWEED.

Seaweed, I exclaimed. Yep, she said. They say to do it now. The plants and flowers must love this green wonder food.

So, I bought a whole ‘econo-pack’ of seaweed at Costco. (Less than $7, I might add. I spend way more on mulch, so I was a happy camper.)

The base of all the fruit trees — and the garden bed with the 4 o’clocks — were fed a nice bunch of seaweed…and then watered. (I imagined the happy roots sucking the newly infused salty water.)

From the baby buds appearing on the key lime tree and the ‘just about to bloom’ 4 o’clocks, I’d say the seaweed definitely helped.

And thanks mom. You are USUALLY always RIGHT! ha!
