Approved for a no-sugar-challenge: Pita pocket, hummus, red onion (topped with sauteed pepers and 'healthy Brat Hans' sausage.)

No added sugars here: Pizza made with Food for Life’s sprouted ‘prophet’s pocket,’ hummus, red onion — topped with sauteed green peppers and ‘Brat Hans’ chicken sausage. (Note: the pic was taken this morning before the pizza went into the convection oven.)

Was feeling I needed some pizza today — and along with this came this want of sausage/meat topping. (Not sure what that means lol!!)

Being on Week #2 of a no-sugar-added Challenge, we need to stay away from canned pizza sauce — and the salts / sugars / fillers that lurk in packaged/processed meats. (YUCK!)

Here’s my workaround:

I either take hummus or roasted garlic as my pizza ‘base.’

Using ‘meat’ is good for my marriage right now too lol!!

Hubby was so wonderful to go on this challenge. I’m trying everything to stay w/n the confines of the challenge and also make him feel not-so-deprived.

The pizza bread base is from Food For Life …. the Ezekiel ‘prophet’s pocket bread.’ (I find it in the frozen section at the downtown Austin Whole Foods, in the gluten-free bread/muffin freezers.)

Ezekiel's 'prophet's pocket' is sprouted with no-sugar and can be used for virtually anything. We even cut these up into triangles and toast 'em into chips for hummus.
